Great success of Palibex’s new network model

Pallet distribution in Spain - palibex

Palibex has restructured its network to offer the best operational option and the most efficient transportation solution to its franchisees and end customers. Following this model change, they can now enjoy traffic in neighboring regions that were not possible before; they have introduced new international services; improved their pickups, and, above all, gained speed and quality, especially in the fast-moving consumer goods channel.

As of January 2022, nearly 80% of the coordinated cargo was handled by the Madrid hub, whereas currently, it barely exceeds 65%. The rest is managed directly in the operational centers that Palibex has set up in Álava, Valladolid, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Valencia, Seville, and Granada. In fact, some branches don’t even pass through Madrid, routing their cargo through other centers to reach its destination. According to the General Manager, María Luisa Romero, these figures highlight the success of this new model.

Palibex’s priority over the past year was to size its network to accommodate a greater volume of cargo and handle peaks without tension. To achieve this, the company has made a significant investment, both in new operational centers and at its Madrid headquarters, increasing its operational capacity by 50% to coordinate up to 6,000 pallets per day with the same quality.

“We have always been well-sized, from the beginning when we moved 600 pallets daily to now, where we handle more than 4,000. In our industry, clients are gained and lost during challenging periods such as summer, Christmas campaigns, strikes, etc. It is crucial to handle peak activities well,” emphasizes María Luisa Romero.

Well-sized and with optimized and fully operational coordination centers, Palibex has started the year growing without compromising on quality. Between January and May 2023, the company has moved 369,462 pallets, representing a growth of 6.1% compared to the same period the previous year. Delivery punctuality has improved from 96.5% recorded between January and May 2022 to the current 97.2%
