Sustainability in transport is often associated with reducing emissions or adopting new technologies, but at Palibex it forms part of a broader strategy that begins with the very design of the Network.
The express transport Network has been transforming its operating model for years with a clear objective: to improve efficiency, capacity and flexibility in order to grow sustainably. In this way, it reduces the impact of its activity without compromising service quality.
Decentralisation makes it possible to optimise freight flows and create smaller collaborative networks between branches that share resources, helping the Network absorb growth more effectively while reducing unnecessary journeys.
The reorganisation of routes and the creation of new direct connections between different points in the Network follow the same principle: making better use of available capacity and anticipating needs in order to reduce consumption, improve productivity and minimise the associated environmental impact.
The drive for greater efficiency also explains the company’s commitment to Euro Modular Vehicles, which increase load capacity per journey and reduce the number of trips required to transport the same volume of goods. For Palibex, this objective has been further reinforced by the approval of the 44-tonne limit in Spain, aligning regulation with greater sustainability and safety.
Palibex’s environmental commitment is also reflected in its membership of Lean & Green, Europe’s largest collaborative initiative for the decarbonisation of logistics. Through this programme, Palibex has committed to reducing emissions from its logistics processes by at least 20% over the next five years by implementing measures aimed at improving operational and energy efficiency.
Sustainability is not limited to the environmental dimension. It also means growing responsibly and maintaining quality standards regardless of the volume handled. To achieve this, Palibex uses data analysis and visualisation systems that make it possible to measure operational performance, anticipate needs and identify opportunities for improvement.
Tools such as Power BI, together with automation processes and KPI monitoring, enable more accurate decision-making and help reduce inefficiencies throughout the logistics chain.
Finally, Managing Director María Luisa Romero believes that sustainability also has a social dimension, as it depends not only on infrastructure and processes but also on the people who make them possible. For this reason, Palibex provides specific training for drivers in road safety, prevention, efficient driving, load securing and incident management.
